“The United States continually threatens both Iran and North Korea about any development of any kind of nuclear power,” Bruce Gagnon, Coordinator at Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, said in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday.

He added that however, the United States “secretly and illegally helps Israel develop nuclear weapons.”

A declassified report by the US Department of Defense revealed the United States assisted Israel in developing a hydrogen bomb, a move which violated international laws.

According to the 1987 report, top Israeli nuclear facilities were analogous to the Los Alamos and Oak Ridge National Laboratories which played a key role in the development of US nuclear weaponry.

Israelis are "developing the kind of codes which will enable them to make hydrogen bombs. That is, codes which detail fission and fusion processes on a microscopic and macroscopic level,” said the report.

The report came while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to address the US Congress next month to put further pressure on Iran to stop its peaceful nuclear program.

“This latest disclosure that the United States helped Israel develop nuclear weapons, it’s not a surprise, but finally it’s important that these documents have been released under the Freedom of Information Act, so the world can see them,” Gagnon said.

“The United States violated both US law and international laws by helping Israel develop hundreds of nuclear weapons,” he added.

“The United States gives Israel billions of dollars every year that are used to expand its military, to become more a regional threat on behalf of US interests,” the analyst said.
