The government’s top law officer is going to court to demand the rejection of an attempt to prosecute Tony Blair over the Iraq war, the Guardian has learned.

The planned intervention by the attorney general comes after a judge ruled the former Labour prime minister had immunity from the attempt to bring a criminal charge against him and that pursuing a prosecution could “involve details being disclosed under the Official Secrets Act”.

The private prosecution relates to the 2003 Iraq war and seeks the trial in a British court of then prime minister Tony Blair, the foreign secretary Jack Straw, and Lord Goldsmith, the attorney general at the time.

Military Adventurism: The Problem is Washington, Not North Korea

Washington has never made any effort to conceal its contempt for North Korea. In the 64 years since the war ended, the US has done everything in its power to punish, humiliate and inflict pain on the Communist country. Washington has subjected the DPRK to starvation, prevented its government from accessing foreign capital and markets, strangled its economy with crippling economic sanctions, and installed lethal missile systems and military bases on their doorstep.

Negotiations aren’t possible because Washington refuses to sit down with a country which it sees as its inferior. Instead, the US has strong-armed China to do its bidding by using their diplomats as interlocutors who are expected to convey Washington’s ultimatums as threateningly as possible. The hope, of course, is that Pyongyang will cave in to Uncle Sam’s bullying and do what they are told.

it is entirely correct that North Korea has developed its nuclear weapons program as a deterrent to a potential pre-emptive US strike against it.

I seriously doubt that North Korea would ever fire the first volley at either South Korea, or American assets nearby; but I do think that if the US government and military want this war, and want it quickly, they will create some kind of "false flag" event, and blame it on North Korea.

Right now, the US government is working against a "hard deadline" of 9 May, which is when the next South Korean election will be held, and if the candidate who wins favors the "sunshine policy" toward North Korea (social/economic engagement, no military hostility against it), President Trump will have "lost the window" for a strike against North Korea for some time.

Of course, I would be reasonably certain that the American Deep State is lining the pockets of candidates who have a more "martial" approach to the "problem" of North Korea; but if that doesn't work, the US government may well be thinking about creating that above-referenced false flag.
